Most businesses understand the importance of market research prior to taking a product to market, but when you are a fledgling company and your market is on the other side of the world it can be difficult to know where to start. This is why you can obtain help through the EMRS scheme, designed to help eligible companies research their overseas markets prior to developing a strategy for entry.
Receive grants for up to 50% of your market research costs
Comprehensive research will help companies to reach sound decisions about exporting their products and services without making costly mistakes.
The team of experts will travel to businesses across the region to understand their individual requirements and to advise them free of charge, before the businesses start their programme of international market research.
If a report has been written on the target market, EMRS may provide a grant to cover a third of the cover price on reports ranging from £200 to £10,000.
If a consultant is employed to do the desk-based research in-house, EMRS may award 50% of the consultant’s fee.
If a company travels to the target market to undertake field research it may receive up to 50% of the trip's costs including travel, translation and a daily allowance for hotels, food and phone calls. Alternatively it can claim 50% of a consultant’s fee for field research.
Companies can claim 10 grants for research in 10 countries. The maximum per grant is £20,000 and the maximum per company is £60,000
