Norfolk Chamber Board

The Norfolk Chamber of Commerce Board is vital to the running of the business. The partnership working between the Chamber’s Board members and the Chamber executive is crucial to its business success.

The Board is made up of members from across the County to ensure that members’ interests are represented at local, county and regional levels. The Norfolk Chamber Board meets quarterly. In addition to these meetings there are three sub groups that also meet quarterly:

Governance
Chaired by the Norfolk Chamber President, with selected members of Norfolk Chamber Board to review and discuss the core business issues.

Representation/Policy
Included within this group is the Board President and Vice President, the Area Council Chairs/Presidents and Vice Chairs/President. It is also open to all other Norfolk Chamber Board Directors to attend if they choose. This group of the Board is responsible for setting the representative objectives of Norfolk Chamber and assisting in their delivery.

Operational
This more informal meeting is used by Directors of the Board to work on specific operational issues with the executive across the Chamber to assist in the delivery of the core business plan objectives: Membership, Events and International.

After four years in the Metropolitan Police as a cadet and later a constable, she started to build a career in retail with branch manager and field sales management appointments.

Barry Dennis

Having had nearly 40 years experience in the media business, 21 as Managing Director with Archant and Emap, Barry now runs his own business mentoring and advice service.

He is the Immediate Past President of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce. He is Chairman of Pike Textile Display Ltd, a family manufacturing business in Wisbech and a Non Executive Director with Broadland Meridian and the Chamber Orchestra Anglia.

Bobby Burrage

Bobby is Executive Creative Director of The Click Design Consultants – an award-winning, independent, multi-disciplined creative agency. Learning his trade at an international branding agency in London, Bobby worked on global design projects before founding his own agency, The Click, in 2004.

The Click’s diverse client list spans arts and culture, consumer, education, professional services and the public sector.

Caroline Williams

Caroline trained in London as an international buyer working for New York based Federated Department Stores, responsible for the development of their European operations. In 1988 she moved from buying to manufacturing and became the merchandise manager for a furniture manufacturer, Jentique Furniture Ltd. responsible for their key client Marks and Spencer.

Daren Moore

Daren is a partner with Price Bailey, a top 35 regional firm of accountants. He heads up their corporate team in the region, providing support and advice to a range of businesses in Norfolk.

Daren specialism is in the owner managed and entrepreneurial business markets. He deals with a number of aspirational and high growth companies and provides advice on strategy, structure, financial management, profitability, acquisition, value creation and exit management.

Gary Howard

Chair of Norwich Chamber Council

Gary’s role is to manage the partnerships between employers, organisations, industries and the College, assisting to create the workforce of the future. The College aims to ensure the courses offered meet the skills and knowledge required, and links students to the workforce through work-experience, internships and employment.

I was born in West Norfolk and I have lived in West Walton, Norfolk for 15 years.

For 20 years I have been in general recruitment; 14 years I was employed as an Area Director and 6 years ago I formed by own general recruitment agency called HS Recruitment (King’s Lynn) Ltd. In 2006 I decided to start HS Care Ltd dealing mainly with Residential Care Homes and Learning Disability Homes.

Previous to this I was a Manager in the Civil Service and was solely responsible for the implementation of the IT system and the training of 120 plus staff.

Ian lives in Gorleston with his wife Jo and has 3 daughters Evie, Betsie & Gracie. He is the Chief Executive Officer at Blue Sky Leisure, a medium sized Leisure and Tourism Group operating Holiday Parks, Restaurants, Park Home developments and other property interests. The group owns Kelling Heath Holiday Park near Weybourne, its sister park, Woodhill at East Runton and also owns and operates the three Zaks Fine American Restaurants in and around Norwich.

Jodie Guttrich

Sprowston Manor, a Marriott Hotel and Country Club

Jodie has been the general manager at Sprowston Manor for the past 4 and half years.  It is her second senior leadership position with Marriott International.  Her 26 year career has taken her to hotels in 6 different countries and provided her with a very diverse and culturally rich approach to business.

Jodie is keen to become more involved in bringing business into Norfolk and to provide long term stability to the tourism sector.  She would like to work together with established businesses in Norfolk for a better business environment.

Chartered Civil Engineer with over 23 years experience of working with Private Sector and Public Sector clients solving technical property and infrastructure problems. Providing specialist advice on transportation, flood, energy, utilities, infrastructure, drainage, CDM and project management.

Peter Foster

Peter Foster began working for Sedgwick UK Risk Services in 1996.  After several years moved to Norwich Union, specialising in commercial insurances and the broker market.  Peter joined Hugh J Boswell Ltd in January 2005 as an Account Executive within the commercial insurance team.  Joining the Group Board in October 2006 and with his passion for business, Peter invests a significant amount of time working with different local networks, charities and foundations, driving forward economic growth within Norwich and the Norfolk area.

Phil Harris

Norcom Technology Ltd

Phil originally worked for Gardline Survey for 5 years firstly as a Hydrographic Surveyor and then as a software developer.  

24 years ago he established Norcom Technology Ltd. to provide Hydrographic Survey software to the Energy industry. The company has not only worked in the North Sea and Europe but also in North and South America, West Africa, Middle East, India and Far East.

From senior research scientist with the MOD, through initiator of community projects, founder of engineering companies, consulting companies, extensive experience in energy and power sectors, waste and resource management, environment and community issues.
