The Business and Finance group is made up of banks and accountants and is chaired by a Chamber member, David Whitehead from Larking Gowen.  The role of this group is review the changing business support environment.  Since it was started in July 2011 it has met with the Chair New Anglia LEP and senior representatives from HMRC based in Whitehall.

Russell joined the firm in 1972, became a partner in 1982 and was elected senior partner of the firm in 2009.  He has built up a broad portfolio of audit and accountancy clients ranging from large corporate organisations to owner managed organisations.

James Banham joined Lovewell Blake from Banham Graham when the merger of the two companies took place in September 2011.

James assists clients to establish and achieve their objectives, conducting profit enhancement reviews and undertaking all aspects of finance and wealth management for SMEs. He has completed high profile local Management Buy Outs including raising the required capital and preparing businesses for sale. In 2006 he gained the Advanced Diploma in Corporate Finance.

David Whitehead

David joined the firm in 1978 and qualified in 1982. Following a spell with KPMG in London and Hong Kong, he returned to Larking Gowen in 1987 and became a partner in 1988. In April 2006 he became Chairman.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has recently been awarded the Corporate Finance Advanced Diploma.

Daren is a partner with Price Bailey, a top 35 regional firm of accountants. He heads up their corporate team in the region, providing support and advice to a range of businesses in Norfolk.

Daren specialism is in the owner managed and entrepreneurial business markets. He deals with a number of aspirational and high growth companies and provides advice on strategy, structure, financial management, profitability, acquisition, value creation and exit management.

Craig Douglas

Craig is an engagement leader in the Assurance practice at PwC's Norwich office. Having initially trained as an auditor, Craig then worked in Corporate Finance and Transaction Services gaining experience of Mergers & Acquisitions work, corporate restructuring and refinancing assignments.

Craig also spent a period of time in industry as the Finance Director of a design, manufacturing and distribution company, principally overseeing the transfer of manufacturing operations to a lower cost environment, before returning to the accounting profession.

Colin Denny

Colin is the Deputy Area Commercial Director for HSBC Bank’s commercial offering in Norfolk and the Waveney Valley, where they mainly look after business customers with a sales turnover between £2m & £30m, although he also has contacts with the Local Business managers, who look after the smaller business customers in the catchment area. (The team also incorporates a specialist Agricultural team, looking after farmers across East Anglia).
