Foundation East

Foundation East is a CDFI (Community Development Finance Institution). It is a not for profit organisation which can provide loans of up to £50,000 to existing and start up businesses based in the East of England when they have been unable to obtain funding from a bank. A poor credit history or lack of security does not necessarily mean that a loan application will be refused – each case is assessed individually.

In addition the company supports the development of and provides expertise in Community Land Trusts, where local people purchase and develop community assets. These could be affordable housing and workspaces or saving an amenity (a pub, shop or library) from closure.
