Business and Charity combine to help with jobsearch skills

Norfolk businesses and a local charity have combined to support adults with disabilities gain valuable job search skills.

Five adults with learning disabilities accessed the Jobsearch Skills workshops through the Norfolk based BUILD Charity, who teamed up with senior managers, and owners of Norfolk businesses to pass on their experiences, and provide mock job interviews to candidates for a fictitious role.

Swarm Apprenticeships Ltd is a new business that makes the process for taking on an apprentice far easier for smaller businesses. They're looking for businesses in and around Watton who want to take on an apprentice to get involved. 

Watton is the base of Swarm’s first group and is already attracting interest from local students who want to get straight into work and develop their entrepreneurial attitude to help businesses grow.

Year 8 pupils from Taverham Hall Preparatory School enjoy field trip to the Apple Store

Year 8 pupils from Taverham Hall Preparatory school enjoyed their trip to the Apple store in Norwich where they had the opportunity to create their very own music using GarageBand on the latest Macbook Pro laptops.

This is a regularly run annual trip and one which generates quite a lot of excitement as the pupils look forward to learning more about the latest software applications in the fun Apple Store environment. The Apple store team especially tailor the Field Trip day to set new challenges for our Year 8 pupils .

Pupils from Taverham Hall Preparatory School make Viking Boat as part of their Willow Art Project

The recent Art Days for Years 7 and 8 were led by Maggie Campbell who specialises in outdoor sculptures and installations.

Maggie worked for film studios and the BBC in the days of elaborate props and wobbly scenery. She was involved in making many of the incredible creatures for the sci-fi classics which came to our screens from the 60s onwards,  including terrors such as the ‘Daffodil men’ in Doctor Who –  undoubtedly more frightening in black and white.
