The Somerleyton Estate
The Somerleyton Estate is an undiscovered gem in the heart of the Broads National Park. Full of eastern promise and located on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, a stone’s throw from the coast yet just 35 minutes from Norwich, 15 minutes from Great Yarmouth and 10 minutes from Lowestoft.
A working 5,000 acre Estate includes Somerleyton Hall and Gardens, Somerleyton Events. The Fritton Arms a boutique inn and restaurant, Fritton Lake Retreats Private Holiday Resort and The Dukes Head country pub on the River Waveney.
SOMERLEYTON HALL & GARDENS
Home to Lord and Lady Somerleyton, who open their doors and gardens on set days between Easter and October, so that visitors can step back in time and experience one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes and gardens. Groups bookings and private tours are available.
A DOWNTON ABBEY EXPERIENCE
Somerleyton Hall is also available for exclusive private hire and for corporate events for your very own ‘Downton Abbey’ style experience, complete with butlers. Ideal for boardroom getaways, banquettes and themed events such as murder mystery or crime scene investigation. The Hall can sleep up to 24 guests with further accommodation for up to 150 across the Estate.
THE FRITTON ARMS – A GASTRONOMIC HEAVEN
A short drive from the Hall is The Fritton Arms, a boutique hotel and restaurant set in stunning parkland on the banks of Fritton Lake.
A real gastronomic delight with a team of talented chefs creating dishes from the Estate’s ‘natural larder’. Our kitchen garden supplies fruit, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. The farm provides Welsh Black Beef and Norfolk Horn Lamb, whilst the wild provides Venison and Pike from in and around Fritton Lake. The restaurant offers different areas to eat, drink and relax, with roaring fires in winter and terrace open for cocktails and dining al fresco in summer.
The hotel has a selection of bedrooms, elegantly furnished with goose down pillows, soft linen and luxurious bedspreads, offering guests the chance to have that English country house experience. Perfect for dinner, bed and breakfast offering special corporate rates.
ACTIVITIES AT FRITTON LAKE
If you’re staying on the Estate, are a patron of The Fritton Arms or have booked in advance with Fritton Lake Outdoor Centre, you’ll have exclusive access to activities at Fritton Lake including:
- Triathlon training. Open water swimming with supervised sessions. Canoes, Katakanuing, Archery, bushcraft, cycling, mountain biking, trail running and tree climbing.
Bespoke team building away days are also held at Fritton Lake and can be combined with conference facilities and gourmet barbeques or dinners.
FRITTON LAKE RETREATS – TO OWN OR HOLIDAY
Offers Two luxurious new lake side developments for sale off plan: ‘Hill Wood’ an exclusive secluded woodland with lakeside plots available and ‘ShedRooms’ an extension of the Fritton Arms with concierge service.
