Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK has been at the heart of progress made towards beating cancer in the UK. Just 40 years ago, a person diagnosed with cancer had only a 1 in 4 chance of survival. Our research efforts have helped to double this number, so that now 2 in 4 people diagnosed with cancer will survive their disease for at least 10 years. But there is still work to be done. We aim to accelerate progress to see 3 in 4 people surviving cancer by 2034.
Over the past 10 years, Cancer Research UK has invested more than £700,000 into research being carried out in Norfolk. This research, being carried out at the University of East Anglia, is shedding new light on a variety of areas of cancer, including how the bacteria in your gut can affect the behaviour of cancer.
In 2016/2017, over 100 patients were recruited in Norfolk for over 20 CRUK-supported clinical trials at sites including the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Working with businesses is a key part of what we do in Norfolk. Fundraising doesn’t just benefit our scientists and patients, it benefits the businesses and staff who go that extra mile to show their support.
CRUK will give your business all of the fundraising help and tools you need to not only boost staff wellbeing and motivation but also to showcase your efforts to local communities.
Businesses who get behind our fundraising always see the benefits. It’s the perfect way to bring staff together to work to a common goal that you can all feel proud of.
While the science might be serious, the fundraising can be fun. You can set challenges – from lunchtime sponsored walks to not for profit exercise classes that will not only invest in the health of your staff but also give the added satisfaction that you’ve all made a difference to other people's lives too.
And of course we like to shout about your commitment to beating cancer, we’ll tell the communities you work in that you are trying to make a difference to so many lives.
A year of fundraising allows a workplace to have a common goal – the events can be as easy as a healthy bake sale, or individual challenges like eye-watering body waxing or a group effort. We have lots of ideas to get you started on your fundraising journey. And of course there are other ways you can get involved including our campaigns (World Cancer Day, Stand Up To Cancer), the local shops and Race for Life Events.
As the World’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, and only charity in the UK’s Top 20 Brand list, the impact of aligning with Cancer Research UK could be significant for your business. For more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
