The Gazette is the UK’s official public record and is a government publication, which publishes public and legal notices. The Gazette is often cited in legislation and is considered by the courts and other legal organisations to be the most effective method for publishing information that is deemed to be in the public’s interest. The first issue of The Gazette was in 1665 as The Oxford Gazette, and though the nature of its contents has evolved over time, its standing as the official public record remains. The Gazette is fully digitised online and is free to search under the open government licence.

The Gazette publishes online profiles of every UK business registered with Companies House. Every company has their own profile showing Gazette notices and information from Companies House, providing a complete and unbiased picture on an official platform. Each profile contains information such as when a company was incorporated, director names, nature of business, previous company names, a timeline of activity and filings with Companies House. Every business has the opportunity to supplement their company profile with bespoke information. For example, a logo, contact details, social media links and an introduction to the company.
