Jane Austen College
At Jane Austen College we believe that meaningful encounters with local businesses is a key feature of an excellent school experience for our students. We are very excited to be developing and improving our careers program. We are looking for local businesses to support us with the following events:
September: Apprenticeships evening for year 11 students: We are looking for apprenticeship providers to attend and provide information to students looking at apprenticeships as a post-GCSE path
April: A year 7 Enterprise day where students will develop, brand, cost market a product, ending with a Dragon’s Den style pitch: We are looking for local business people to use their expertise to guide students to create the best product, and judge the final products.
July: Year 10 Work Experience: We are looking for local businesses to offer placements some of our year 10 students during work experience week.
Ongoing: Year 9 ‘Scholar’s Lunch’ program: We are looking for representatives from different sectors to meet with year 9 students to help provide them with ideas, information, and guidance about different future career paths.
In the next academic year we are hoping to run two new events: a careers fair at Jane Austen College for year 9s and 10s, and a Mock Interview program for year 10s. We are looking for businesses interested in having a stall at our careers fair, and anyone interested in mock-interviewing year 10s.
