Certificates of Origin - Qatar
It has come to our attention that some Qatari customs authorities are now refusing to accept electronic certificates of origin (Express) and are insisting that documents are also legalised. The issue has been raised by British Chambers of Commerce with the Department for International Trade (DIT) who are making representations to their customs authorities.
Julie Austin, International Trade Manager, for Norfolk Chambers of Commerce suggested that "In the meantime it is suggested that Standard Arab British certificates are used and documents are legalised by the Qatar Embassy in order to avoid any unnecessary delays and extra charges.
It is believed the Qatar authorities are intending to charge a 1% penalty for shipments which do not comply."
Our International Department will be able to advise on this and get quotes for the documents to be legalised. Please contact Julie Austin on 01603 729706 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more assistance
