SG Wealth Management’s Managing Director, Stephen Girling, has successfully completed a buyout of the business he founded almost 18 years ago with co-Director Neil Shillito.

Specialising in holistic financial planning for high net worth individuals, SG Wealth Management (SGWM) was launched by Stephen and Neil in 2001 and has offices in Norwich and Ipswich.  The company employs 35 staff across both locations, with a client base covering East Anglia and beyond, and also boasts a Corporate Services division which deals solely with business to business relationships.

With Neil reaching retirement age, it was a timely decision for Stephen to execute the privately funded buyout and take full control of the business.  Although Stephen has become majority shareholder, there is no change in company structure, with CEO of Adnams Plc, Dr Andy Wood OBE DL, continuing his current position of Chairman and all employees remaining in their existing roles.

Commenting on the buyout, Managing Director, Stephen Girling, says: “Neil and I have grown the business successfully together over many years and the time was right for me to fully take the helm. This now gives me the opportunity to invest in new technologies, increase our efficiencies and enjoy building the company further.  Our loyal clients, motivated employees and strong senior management team place us in a strong position to grow SG Wealth Management in the long term. Whilst we will of course miss Neil - we wish him a long and very happy retirement. ”

Chairman, Dr Andy Wood, adds “I am pleased Stephen has been able to become the majority shareholder of the business he started with Neil.  This is a fitting conclusion to a successful entrepreneurial partnership that endured for 18 years and presided over an exciting period of growth.  This acquisition should provide clients and staff with reassurance and the confidence that SGWM is in good hands and committed to an independent future.  I would like to join Stephen in expressing my thanks to Neil for his contribution over many years”
