Elite To Open First Public Service Academy. Education into employment for young Norfolk people

Starting September Elite in conjunction with COWA will open the doors of the Public Services Academy to the first cohort of students. The Academy will initially take school leavers and offer them a range of Level 2 qualifications, with progression to either the level 3 qualification in Public Services at the academy or regional college, into an apprenticeship or full time work with a local employer.

Building on the success of teaching, qualifying and working with over 300 young people at the 2012 games, many of whom went onto both public services and non-public services employment the course will cover subjects such as:

  • TEAM WORKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
  • UNDERSTANDING OF HEALTH AND SAFETY AND HYGIENE
  • EXPLOREING ASPECTS OF PHYSICAL FITNESS
  • EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY
  • WORKING AS A VOLUNTEER

Having been involved in delivering this course at other educational establishments we believe it provides the skill set and ethics which Norfolk employers have said are missing from some school leavers as they enter into careers. Elite Academy promotes confidence, personal discipline, time management and employability. The programme is delivered over 14 weeks and prospective employers are welcome to observe and interview potential apprentices and employees during this time. We currently have backing from Norfolk largest employers and senior political figures but would like to encourage all members to support this exciting new project
